Projected
Illusion
No window
Confusion?
A face
A landscape
Reflection
Shadow
Captured
On a blank wall
Nothing
Nothing at all
Yet
There it is
And it’s
Looking
Looking in
At who?
You?
Nevermore
To be seen
Again
Nevermore to be seen again!

Poet Laureate of Prestidigitation
Author’s Note: To date, I am uniquely the only poet who publishes Author’s Notes with each poem. I do so because in high school I could never understand the great classic poets Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Poe, Wordsworth, Shakespeare, Chaucer, John Keats, TS Elliot, William Yeats, Homer, Rudyard Kipling to name but a few. Robert Frost and Carl Sandburg I can relate to. Even Sister Mary John was frustrated with my poetic frustration. I dismiss “nuveo woke” poetry as simply effete erudition.
I do pack humor, hidden messages in my crisp freestyle, but write my thoughts on each poem for the reader’s sake. You see, although a poem opens one’s imagination especially when associated with a picture/photo as is my genre, I contend that the poet expresses his or her premise and the poem is not up for further interpretation. So read my poem, read my Notes then reread my poem as most folks report they do. Get it?
